Shipping policy

This Shipping Policy explains where Ancient Roots ships, how long orders take, what shipping costs, and what to do if an order arrives damaged or doesn't arrive at all. By placing an order with us you agree to the terms set out below.

Where we ship

Ancient Roots ships only within the Republic of South Africa. We do not offer international delivery at this time.

Order processing

Orders are processed within 1–2 business days of payment confirmation. Orders placed on weekends or public holidays are processed on the next business day. You will receive an email confirmation when your order is placed and a second email when it ships.

Delivery timeframes

Estimated delivery times after dispatch:

  • Cape Town metro: 1–3 business days
  • Elsewhere in South Africa: 2–5 business days

These are estimates from our courier partners, not guarantees. Remote or outlying areas may take longer. Delays caused by load-shedding, weather, or courier capacity are outside our control.

Shipping costs

Shipping is charged at flat rates based on your delivery address and is calculated automatically at checkout:

These rates are interim and will be revised once our final carrier-cost arrangements are confirmed. The "Last updated" date at the bottom of this policy reflects the most recent revision.

Tracking

When a tracking number is available, it will be included in your shipment confirmation email and can be used to monitor delivery progress on the courier's website.

Damaged or lost orders

We take care to pack every order securely, but if your order arrives damaged or doesn't arrive at all, we want to make it right.

  • If your order arrives damaged: email us at orders@ancientroots.co.za within 7 days of delivery. Include your order number and photographs of the damaged item and packaging. We will arrange a replacement or refund.
  • If your order doesn't arrive within the estimated window: please first check your tracking information and any "left with neighbour" or "collection point" notifications from the courier. If you still cannot locate the order [CONFIRM: lost-order escalation window, e.g. 5 business days] past the expected delivery date, contact us at orders@ancientroots.co.za and we will investigate with the courier on your behalf.

Returns and refunds

Shipping-related issues (damage, loss, non-delivery) are handled under this Shipping Policy. For all other returns and refunds — change of mind, product issues, and the like — please see our separate Return and Refund Policy.
